What do I regret about my wedding day? My biggest personal wedding mistake

Updated: Sep 13, 2022

My wedding was one of the best days of my life. Being surrounded by my family and friends, who were there to celebrate me finding and marrying the man I love. We had a beautiful church service with the pastor that knew my husband since high school. Our reception was at one of our favorite venues. We even had karaoke!

There is one big regret I have, however.

Not having a DND order for the bride, or the groom for that matter. What I should have done - and I encourage you to do this - is to designate someone as the point person the day of the ceremony. Heck, even the night before. This person fields all the last minute questions from those who have the good intention of getting the vision correct and perfect for the couple. Receiving phone calls and texts while getting ready are very stressful for the couple. They are nervous enough without having to juggle logistics. Your DND person can be a member of your wedding party, your wedding coordinator, or you can even hire a day-of coordinator. I still remember that on my wedding day - having sacrificed sleep in order to finish a last minute DIY craft project - people called and messaged me while I was getting dressed to tell me they weren't going to make it. We were already at our minimum guarantee, so everyone who didn't attend was costing us money. So here I was, calling people to see if they wanted to come to my wedding last minute. Some people might see this as tacky, but thank goodness my friends didn't mind! If you are the ultimate hands-on person and want update on every incident, then do you, honey. But if you would like to feel free.

A great way to help your DND person is to have wedding timeline. This will keep your wedding day organized and is a great tool. We created a Wedding Timeline Creator to help! This free tool will email you copy of all the important factors for your celebration. Who is your DND contact? Let us know in the comments!
